Regulators in Russia ordered Google to fix its Android policy

Some time back Yandex - Russia's Internet search Giant with a market share of over 60% filed a case against Google in the country for its  anti-competitive policies on the android devices since the current policy makes it essential for the users to have the Google apps installed on the device. Finally Russian regulators and assured of the fact that the Google policy on the per-installed apps on Android devices is anti-competitive. This can be a big blow for the search giant.

 They have now asked Google to check out its policies and remove the restriction of having the Google apps installed by default and bundled with the system by November 18th. With this Google think tank has to work really hard to refine its strategy for devices because if Google fails to be complaint with the order then they might face heavy fines in terms of the revenue that they generated from Russia and on the other hand if they withdraw from Russia then they might miss out one of the biggest smartphone markets in the world especially when there are competitor like Yandex already there to capture the country's market. At the same time Google also knows that the its revenue comes by diverting users to its ads and services so, by removing this sort of restriction, they might loose out some real audience which otherwise is working well across the globe.

While Google is already facing anti-competition charges in India by some of the big Indian companies especially e-commerce one's and the privacy issue in the Europe is already there. This new order by Russia's Regulators makes the situation even more complex for Google and it looks like that Google has got a whole lot of issues to resolve before getting back to some real work. While it will certainly not affect the newer releases that Google is looking forward to but it might require a lot of thinking in order to resolve all sorts of issues and to have a re-check on the strategy that the company is following during the past few years in order to make them work even better for the company.

How non-profits can raise funds easily on Facebook

For those of you who run non-profit pages on Facebook and need to raise funds here is the good news, Facebook has now made it even more easier for the non profit pages to raise funds by allowing 'Donate Now' button for the pages and ads. This can be a big step forwars if we keep in mind the current situation of the smaller non-profit organizations.While the big giants like Google, Microsoft etc are known for new initiatives and releasing new things but Facebook always comes up with something unique. Now, it has become quite easier to attract people for donation since this feature allows another platform to showcase Donation for the non-profits that was missing till now. It was a long awaited desired feature and finally it is live.

However, the Donate button was already there and was rolled out by Facebook in 2013 but that was available to specific societies like Red Cross where the payment happens internally given in the below screenshot and the credit card information gets stored

But, unlike that the new feature allows non-profit to raise funds but at the same time if the user click the Donate button then he/she will be alerted with a message signifying that facebook has no involvement on the same and after that the user will be redirected to the payment page specified by the non-profit page owner.Screenshot given below -

It is expected that it will boost the confidence of the smaller non-profit organization as they doesn't have many sources of raising funds in order to make their new initiatives successful. While this new initiative will definitely help non-profit to add more clicks on payment for them but at the same time facebook will not allow internal payment for them likewise currently happening for the partner pages of Facebook but still it should be an uplift for the non-profits if not a major one. Lets see how much this feature can bring revolution to the fund raising system for the non- profit organizations. I hope that it will help at least some of the organizations if not all.

Google launches 360 degree videos on youtube

Google does come up up with something really exciting every time and no surprises that this time it's something with the Youtube Videos. Now you would say what's the big deal in it but the big deal lies in the new feature where one can have a 360 degree experience of videos on youtube just like you have with the maps. Yes, Google introduced this pretty much innovative feature where one can watch 360 degree video on youtube. 

We all love youtube for the kind of thing it is as one can have access to videos from round the globe with some pretty interesting videos in there. Its a great place to listen to music share your stuffs and also to earn and it's enhancing.Youtube's expansion is actually a good thing as it's getting more and more interesting with every update.Coming back to the new feature, with this feature one can not only have a look at what's happening in the video but also the environment as well with a complete view of the video. So, in other words you can see the video from the perspective of the thing/guy that is actually there in the video. For example if you are watching a racing video then you can have a view from the drivers perspective as well also you can see the in and around details of the environment. Currently not all videos are available in 360 degree but a few are does available which will give you a fair bit of idea that what it is all about. I will be sharing links to the videos below.
 
Now you can even watch the video from an all together different perspective. While the extra feature comes at a cost as it takes 400% to 500% of bandwidth if you compare it with the normal youtube videos. Obviously its a bit on a slower side and people with lower bandwidth might get frustrated watching it but one thing  is for sure that you will be seeing a lot of changes in future in this sort of innovative technology. However, this is currently available only on the chrome browser or if you are using an Android device then you can do so with the youtube App(the work is still underway to support all other platforms considering the immense possibilities in this technology). In order to experience this feature you just need to  tap and drag on the video and you can watch each and every fine detail on that particular video. Imagine the possibilities of creating your own video with such a real time experience that can be shared with others. While only few 360 degree videos are available on youtube few of those are -

Unusual increase in CTR for some Google Adsense publishers

During the past few days some Adsense publishers are concerned about their click through rates (CTR) for their Google ads running on their site. While seeing this unusual CTR increase , initially the publishers seemed to be excited seeing lot of $'s in their account but for not long enough and they started worrying about their account since the scenario continued from then and according to Google policies, clicks coming from invalid activity can lead to account blockage. A lot of publishers reported to have a 2 to 6 fold increase in their CTR when compared to their normal day CTR's.

Click Bombing.

The term that is used for this is Click Bombing where few impressions tend to get more clicks than normal.While their might be a lot of reasons for Click Bombing out of which few are explained below -

1) The publisher is involved in some sort of click exchange program.

Here the publisher knowingly hires people for getting clicks on their ads but this doesn't seems to be a reason here since a lot of publishers are affected.

2) Someone wants your account to be blocked.

Again this is not possible here in this case since lot of publishers are involved here.

3) To hurt Google.

In this situation this seems to be the most relevant reason why this sort of a thing is happening.

While many publishers have already reported this issue to Google but till now no official announcement has come from the Google's end.

Is there anything to worry about my account or my money?

Google seems to be knowing this issue as of now and working to rectify it, the thing is that you need not to worry about your account but neither does that mean that all the earning that came from this will be yours because at the time of real payment Google will surely cut down the $'s from your account that came from illegal activity but you should not be worried about money coming from real clicks because whatever is natural Google will surely not cut your money coming from that.

Meanwhile what can I do?

While I hope that Google is working out closely on this issue of Click Bombing attack, there are a few things that you can do to be on a safer side -

1)  Report to Google about this issue here

2) While the publishers seems to be claiming the clicks seems to be coming from XLHOST. - 209.190.32.178 and Firefox version 27 which can be checked from your log file and Analytics Adsense data respectivel. If you have the same scenario then you can block the browser version using your .htaccess file.

To avoid getting click bombed you can block the Mozilla 27 browser by putting the following code into your .htaccess file.

RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} Firefox/27\.0 [NC]

RewriteRule .* – [F,L]

Other way can be that you can block that IP in which case you might be loosing some genuine traffic coming from that IP. 

Note : This will block all the users coming from mozilla firefox 27 and you might be loosing some traffic, also the trend might change and click bombing might start happening from some other browser or IP so this is a temporary solution and you have to wait for Google's work for the permanent solution to this problem.

Update : The issue got resolved by the Google on 21st of April but a lot of people seemed to have got big $ cuts in their adsense account which is even lower than their daily average earning.
Anyways, be aware of such activities and will keep you guys posted if anything like this happens again.

Way back machine to see how websites used to look like in the past

During the last decade if there is anything that has grown more rapidly than anything else, it's INTERNET. Since 1990 it has grown with such a rapid pace and it's still growing. Now during this course of time a lot of things came into existence out of which some have already become an integral part of our daily life like Google, Facebook. While some are now not visible these days even after getting a lot of popularity one big example is Orkut. While Google started in 1996 and Facebook in 2004, but they were completely different at that point of time from what we are seeing these days.

While the journey is quite interesting because the big giants of today like Google, Facebook actually started of with very basic features and  design and if you compare it with the current one you might not be able to believe after comparing the two which is actually quite logical as the new things does start of with something small and over the time they become big and some deplete completely over the years. One can make whole new album if we start taking snapshots of all the changes that has happened in the giants over the years.

Well now you would think that how nice it would be if you have some sort of time machine or way back machine to see exactly how different websites evolved during the years. Well, the good news is that there is a way back machine for you to do that. Yes there is an Internet archive site that actually has the screen shots of websites at to how they looked a like in the past. So, if you are curious enough to know your website or some other web page's past then follow these simple steps -

1) Click on the link http://archive.org/web/

2) Enter name of the website.

3) Now hit "BROWSE HISTORY" button

4) Select the year on top.

5) Now select any one of the blue circled date which is nothing but the date when the archive.org has taken the snapshot of the given website whereas you can see whole month as blue these days for websites like Google since there snapshot is being taken a lot more then some other small websites.

How to set alarm for 7 am to wake up early

Are you amongst those people who fell lazy waking up early? Probably you are not the only one to feel like that, since a lot of people in this world face this big challenge daily which definitely includes me also :). From the children's who have to go to school to the common man  who need to go for office daily in order to earn and fulfill the needs of the family, ALL have to wake up early. Now, the big problem is that there is no alarm clock in this world which can really make you feel happy while waking up apart from doing its usual work of disturbing you sweet sleep. No matter how much we check mark our "go to bed" timing still waking up early is a very tedious task to do. Most of us will agree to the fact that we do not wake up exactly at the time when the alarm rings and used to put it on snooze many a times. But do you really think that putting your alarm clock on snooze will be able to do the job for you. Do you really feel like you have got enough sleep after putting the alarm clock on snooze. 

What's wrong with putting Alarm clock on snooze?

Answer-

1) Not only does it make you do things quickly, it can actually destroy your morning to make it as a bad morning.

2) Well you might reach your Office/ School late enough to hear some real healthy words from your superior or teacher.

Now, the big question is how to wake up then and how to stop snoozing?

Well the answer is quite simple : Get enough sleep so that your body no more gets into the need of more sleep.

Now, you will say that it's OK but How the HELL am I supposed to do that?

Again the answer is simple by going to the bed as early as possible. It's an old saying "Early yo bed, early to rise". Try to sleep early, it will be a lot easier for you to wake up early in the morning. A normal person needs 8 hrs of sleep, try to achieve that. Rush towards your bed before 11 pm and set your alarm for 7 am depending upon your office/school timing. Well if you are a bit health conscious also then set alarm for 6 am and do some exercise or gym to make yourself fit and for God sake stop hitting that snooze button again and again in fact just forget that there is any button called snooze in this world. Once you get rid of your habit of hitting that snooze button and schedule your sleep timings, you will see that you have developed a system/biological clock that itself will wake you up at the right time without having any need of any Alarm Clock.

If you search in the dictionary for an another word for life you will probably end up finding words like existence since life in lay man terms simply means the very existence of the being, words like living and words like tenure and others but...

How can you really find the real meaning of life with these simple translations?

How do you know the real joy of living the life truly rather than only knowing what life is?

Does the words like existence can really define the real meaning of life and is that really what we can call another word for life?

Probably in simple and straight forward terms it's correct but understanding the real meaning of life is not really what you can find in a dictionary in fact it requires a bit more than that, it's the experience of living in the real world, the world where different kinds of people live, the world where there are a lot of things to explore and the world where each person faces millions of challenges in its life. An experience that is not limited to your surrounding only but to the extent where you can not only see but feel the very existence of billions of people with different casts, tribes, religion, work and of course the assets, where you have a deep understanding of how different people live in different conditions, experience by gaining which  one can actually feel the emotions of the people. An experience of nature that is the most beautiful thing in this world. Nature - a place where the real peace lies, a place where you can leave all your worries aside and relax. The experience with which one can easily explain even the biggest complexities of the world easily to itself. The experience which came after falling many a times but at the same time making a come back and showing the world that it is still not over.The experience which came after understanding all the good's, bad's and the ugly's of the world where one can easily differentiate between the positives and the negatives.

Happiness Re-defined

Before I move ahead I would like to ask you a question. When do you feel happy? While some might say that when they are with their friends, they feel happy. On the other hand some might say that when they hangout with their family, that's when they realize that they are happy and some might say that when they get their salary on time, they feel the real happiness. So, different people will have different opinions and hence different ways to express their feeling of happiness. But that thing makes one thing clear that not everyone can feel happy about  a particular situation.

While some might feel a situation to be happy and some might say what's so special to be happy in it.

For e.g if you see a poor hungry person and offer him a piece of bread then receiving and eating that piece of bread might give him immense pleasure and joy that even you might not feel while having food in a big restaurant. Now this thing is clear that different person has different perspective regarding the same situation.

Now, the question arises - How could you really define Happiness if it differs from person to person?

There has to be something that can really help understand that from where this happiness really comes.

Well there is an answer for that. Happiness is just a state of mind, yes believe it or not but it is like that only. It's nothing more than just a state of mind. So, if we are able to tell our mind that whatever happening is for the good only and try to manipulate our self according to that, then you will always feel happy no matter in which state you are and no matter whether you are having a piece of bread as your food or non - vegetarian food. It our desire that never let our self to become happy. Always we want something better, if you are earning $500 then you will hope for $5000, if you have got  $5000 then you will definitely look for $50000 and so on. There is no end to our satisfaction. Once we will be able limit our self and once we will be able to tell our mind that I am satisfied with whatever I have right now with me, then you will see that satisfaction will ultimately lead to a happiness that invincible and that is what you were trying to have throughout your life and that is what will be able to give you something that is precious and that is going to be an eternal one. Apart from that if you start sharing your piece of pie with others then you will start feeling the change in your life. Your purpose for the life will change because in this world it is quite easy to grab and take from others but what is more difficult is 'GIVING'. If your $1 helps someone who is in desperate need of that then it will give you a sort of happiness , a satisfaction that is incomparable, something that you have never felt in your life while spending/getting amounts bigger than a dollar. Try it and you will see the change but please do it with your full heart. It would be better if you don't do this if your heart says something else.

Hindu Wedding - When is my Wedding anniversary?

If you are in India then there something about this place and that is the great Indian wedding. Do you know that wedding event is a huge market in India that doesn't worth $1 million not $10 million and guess what not even $1 Billion in fact it's more than $35 Billion, seems strange but yes that's the truth. So, here wedding event itself is a big source of income for a whole bunch of people in fact more than a bunch.

From music to tent to food to flower decoration to lighting to clothes to hotels to card distribution....wait let hold my breath once again...With such amount of things involved for a single event it is definitely something that gives occupation to many many people and with so many tasks in line they have to fall in place in order to make it successful. The thing is that marriage is something where both bride & groom's especially the bride's family spend their life time saving for this single event, not because of showing off their wealth  but due to the emotions that is involved with that single event where the parents since the childhood of the girl or boy starts dreaming of this day when their kid really becomes a real man or women.Because of this real emotion, an average healthy fat Indian wedding costs more than $1 Million. But the question arises that how can one spend that much amount on a single day? If you are thinking the same then probably you are thinking in the right direction. Here marriage is not a single day event in fact it's a festival in itself which everyone enjoys a lot (including me :P). It is  a festival where more than 500 people take part in it. In India, marriage is not a single day job but a job that involves months of planning and organizing. It starts of with various functions like ring ceremony and finally comes the day for which everybody was planning from months back. Here on the day of wedding unlike the wedding in Christians and Muslims the wedding happens to be on the next day of the actual wedding date where all the rituals were properly followed and finally the parents of the bride hand over their most precious thing to the groom.

It all ends up happily and the most emotional moment arises where the Bride and her parents are full on tears while their little girl is going to leave them to join a new family and that's when the Bride reaches her new home and everyone blesses the couple for a very happy and successful married life. After that the couple starts living together in a whole new world with a lot of different challenges that they have to face together.

But wait, Here comes the real question.....

When should the newly married couple celebrate their Wedding Anniversary?

While people in India celebrate their wedding anniversary on the day of the wedding which was written on cards.But actually speaking they were not even married on that day and since all the rituals were followed on the next day, marriage anniversary should be the next day of the actual date of wedding.Seems confusing, let me clarify..

Suppose A is getting married with B on 3rd Jan. So, here according to Indian style of wedding, all the Guests will arrive on 3rd jan night and the Groom reaches the place of wedding  mostly after 11 pm and after that on the next day early morning they get engaged officially according to rituals. So, here they got wedded on 4th of jan while the couple still celebrate their wedding anniversary on 3rd.

Big question?
